City of Arvada

 
General Information: The City was founded in 1870 and currently serves a population of approximately 120,000 residents living across approximately 39 square miles.
 
District Oversight: The seven-member city council meets every Monday evening (except the 5th Monday of each month and holidays) to review and approve City operations and finances.

Property Tax Usage: Approximately 8% of the City’s operations are funded through property taxes. (Approximately 73% of the City's budget is funded from sales tax revenue.) Property taxes collected by the City are used to fund the various departments of and services provided by the City including but not limited to (1) public safety (i.e. police department), (2) general City administration, (3) neighborhood services (i.e. City ordinance monitoring and enforcement), (4) municipal court, (5) street cleaning and snow plowing, (6) maintenance of parks and recreation facilities, (7) storm drainage planning and maintenance and (8) maintenance and construction of City-owned roads and bridges.

The City has not changed its mill levy rate of 4.31 mills since the early 1990s.
